I just saw on jkontherun that CES will be debuting wireless power:

Power cords and chargers have been the bane of consumer devices for years, with bulky cords and cables contributing to office and home clutter and presenting a potential safety hazard. Difficulties in charging devices result in lost business and social opportunities. For manufacturers, cords and chargers are a primary source of product failure and customer complaints. Fulton Innovation is poised to solve all of these problems through its novel eCoupled intelligent wireless power technology.

“We believe eCoupled technology will set a revolutionary new standard for Intelligent Wireless Power transfer anywhere traditional power needs exist.” said David Hazlett, Fulton Innovation’s Director of Business Development.”

This may be the biggest story of CES 2007.

I know how much I want a Wii (anyone know of any deals?), but I was surprised to learn there are a number of people interested in trading their hard-won PS3s for the sweet little Nintendo Wii.

We decided upon looking in some of the hottest cities on craigslist: Austin, New York and San Francisco. In my search of Austin, I only turned up 6 total people who wanted to trade their PS3 for a Wii, so I moved on to New York City, which boasted a pretty substantial 18 desired trades. Here’s where it gets crazy: in San Francisco, there are 48 different PS3 for Wii trades going on at this moment. Now, keep in mind, most of these trades are requesting a Wii plus cash difference, but there is the occasional barter that will take a loss just to get their hands on the latest Nintendo console.

This really does surprise me as the PS3’s Resistance: Fall of Man looks like Half Life 2, and that’s good news for Sony. But then, once you’ve beat it a number of times, what else is there? Most of the games are being given a 6 or below, so after beating Resistance, if you want to justify your $600 price tag, you’ll have to pop in a PS2 game for comfort-play.

When the next installments of Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid come out, we’ll see the PS3 get a nice sales boost. But that should also be right around the time Bungee releases Halo 3…

I can’t afford the PS3, but I am still planning on getting one next year. For now I’m concentrating on adding the Wii to my collection of next gen consoles. We have 2 XBox 360s (one for my office and one for the den) and then a handful of DS handhelds as well. I suppose I should also get a PSP, but the draw just isn’t there yet for me. And really, if anyone knows of an online store that’s carrying a Wii, please leave me a comment with a heads-up.

Oblivion: Elder Scrolls - Nights of the Nine

Once you’ve put more than 200 hours into a game, you live for the download-able content. I noticed the Nights of the Nine release but haven’t had a free day to enjoy it until yesterday. It was a quick 10 hours or less, but oh what fun!

Now, this wasn’t a silly ‘repair the orrery’ or one of the several homes (Frostcrag Spire, The Vile Lair, Thieves Den, etc.) that we’re used to seeing. Not that I didn’t buy all the others, hey I’m addicted, but I do appreciate the amount of work that certainly went into the storyline of this one. It’s by far my favorite addition. Granted, it could be that I’m just far out of an Oblivion fix, but I think it’s more likely that this is one fine add-on.

Here’s what it offers you:

1. A compelling, epic tale
2. Some gorgeous armor (with bizarre mantle)
3. Yet another place to sleep
4. A chance to find some new places

If you don’t like it, I’d be surprised. Now, I’m a level 33 Monk Bosmer, so the end battles were relatively easy, but the story was really great and the castles, dungeons and ayelid ruins were creepy/crawly just like we like it.

I think I’m going to play through it on my daughter’s character (she’s only a level 10 and has no invisibility) to see how it feels on that level. Let’s be honest though, I’m not going to update the post to tell you how it goes. If you want an update, leave me a reminder in the comments. I never remember to update a post…
